Aldi this week has some excellent Super 6 fruit and veg choices for just 49c including 6 pack tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, two pack avocados, 1kg potatoes, 500g carrots / parsnips and bunches of scallions. If the good weather comes back this weekend you’re all set for salads and light bites. *she lives in hope*
Also on special are packs of diced chicken (350g) for €2.99, although since I discovered kitchen scissors I personally wouldn’t be too bothered about buying them pre-diced (you have to cut off the teensy bits of fat anyway). Stuffed pork steak is €6.99 per kilo, which is not bad going at all given that the version (Cookstown) stocked in Tesco is €11.67/kg.
As it’s approaching Easter I’ve barely enough time to let my hips recover from Pancake Tuesday and Mother’s Day (no, I’m not a mother, but I did eat the cupcakes I baked for my own. Yes, I’m thoughtful that way) and the shops are stocked with delicious badness again, including various Cadbury treats in Aldi today.
There’s also all manner of junk items listed – rather oddly – in their ‘stock up the cupboard for less’, as clearly the only cupboard this amount of bad stuff would go into is a locked one, out of the reach of sugar-fiend kids. Or me.
